IT²EC 2020 will take place 28-30 April at ExCel, London

IT²EC, the international forum for the military simulation, training and education community, is pleased to announce that the 2020 conference theme has been finalised.

In line with its transformation into the International Training Technology Exhibition & Conference (IT²EC), the 2020 event will present a unique overview of the industry’s latest innovations and future requirements. In particular, the conference will address concepts of joint military and civil operations to strengthen resistance to modern security threats, and the role that training, education and technology play in delivering advanced capabilities for joint operations.

The three-day conference will feature sessions organised into three concurrent streams around an overarching theme of ‘the Digital Twin Age’. Each track will deliver an impressive line-up of speakers and diverse content. They will explore new interoperability designs in a socio-technical system within the Real-Simulation-Real cycle.

Technologies and Architectures: The core technical theme will include presentations on technical developments that advance the use of collaborative, cooperative or innovative processes;

Human Factors and Performance in a Digital Twin Age: Representing the core Human, Social, Cultural and Behavioural theme for IT²EC, this stream will include papers that address a wide range of issues from Human modelling and avatars, to Digital Twin user experience and user behaviour, and Human-Data and Human-sensor interaction;

Emerging Solutions: Propelling Today’s Advances into the Digital Twin Age: Representing the core applications theme for IT²EC, this stream will include papers on advances in large-scale, distributed collaboration and training; Cyber and Physical Security training and education; and Simulation for denied/contested environments, among others.

The conference will be opened on the morning of 28 April by Rusmat Ahmed, 2020 Committee Chair and Senior Vice President Sales, EMEA, Bohemia Interactive Simulations.

We are opening the door to radically new ways of thinking about military training and simulation. The ways we discuss, practice and deliver these capabilities to the armed forces around the world is being driven by advancements in technology that would have been deemed impossible even a few years ago, but that people are using in their everyday lives.” - Ahmed commented. “We are at the beginning of revolutionary times in simulation and training, and this is reflected by the addition of ‘Technology’ in IT²EC’s updated identity.

The quality of the papers we have received back from thought-leaders around the world in their respective fields fills me with confidence not only that our collective community is pushing forward into the Digital Twin Age, but that the IT²EC conference remains a vital part of delivering these capabilities into the hands of our military personnel.
