Fugro Helps NOAA Update Nautical Charts in Alaska

Fugro has completed fieldwork on a hydrographic survey project for the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to update nautical charts off the northern coast of Unimak Island, Alaska. Located in the Bering Sea, the island supports multiple fisheries, a major transit route, and at sea cargo transfers.

Trelleborg Exhibits Innovative Eccofloat Materials at Oceans 2017

Trelleborg’s applied technologies operation will be exhibiting its innovative Eccofloat® TG30 and TG32 materials at Oceans 2017 in Anchorage, Alaska in the U.S.. Trelleborg’s applied technologies operation manufactures various grades of syntactic foams, called Eccofloat®, to meet customer requirements for deep-sea buoyancy applications. While at the show, attendees will be able to have a firsthand look at the new Eccofloat® TG30 and TG32 materials, which have depth ratings of 5,000 and 6,000 meters respectively.

OCEANS'17 MTS/IEEE Anchorage: Call for Tutorials Request for Tutorial Presenters Due May 15, 2017

The Local Organizing Committee is accepting applications for tutorials to be presented at the OCEANS 17 Conference at the Dena’ina Conference Center in Anchorage, Alaska on Monday, September 18, 2017. We request Tutorial submissions be made by May 15 2017. Submissions will be evaluated as they are received. Acceptance notices will be sent as soon as the committee completes its review and makes a decision so those providing the tutorials can plan and prepare. Final notice of acceptance will be issued no later than June 1, 2017 in order to facilitate registrant sign-up. Submissions that are received after May 15 will be considered, but at the discretion of the local technical committee, these will be treated as free-of-charge workshops if space is available, and there will be no fee paid to the provider.

Dear MTS / IEEE OES Colleagues, On September 18-21, 2017, the OCEANS North America conference will be hosted in Alaska for the first time ever! On behalf of the Marine Technology Society and the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society, the OCEANS ’17 Anchorage Local Organizing Committee (LOC) is honored to invite your participation in this prestigious event. The venue for OCEANS'17 Anchorage is The Dena’ina Convention Center, a state-of-the-art facility located in the center of downtown Anchorage in close proximity to many great hotels, fine and casual dining, eclectic art galleries, and shopping. Within walking distance is the famous Tony Knowles Coastal Trail with its fantastic panoramic views of Cook Inlet and three majestic mountain ranges - Chugach, Alaska, and Talkeetna ranges. As we develop the full technical program in the coming months, we encourage you to submit a paper to share with the MTS/IEEE OES community and welcome your suggestions for workshops, tutorials or other activities.
