Havfram Wins Offshore Wind Contract

Havfram, an international subsea and offshore wind contractor, is pleased to announce the award of a contract on the Yunlin Offshore Windfarm which is being developed offshore Taiwan. The contract, with Yunneng Wind Power Co., Ltd, will see Havfram provide Project Management and Owners Engineer Services within the foundation installation package for the development.

Hydramec & Scantrol Provide Equipment for Endurance

Hydramec and Scantrol are honoured to have worked together once again to supply bespoke subsea winches to facilitate the Endurance22 expedition. Hydramec provided the expedition with two 25000m winches with 3.5mm fibre optic cable. The fibre optic cable would be tethered to the autonomous unmanned vehicle (AUV) to gather real-time data during the ship's survey. Without this type of cable, the crew would have had to bring the AUV back to the vessel to see the images.

Reach Subsea Signs Contract with Kongsberg Maritime to Build Reach Remote USVs

Reach Subsea ASA, a provider of subsea services globally, has signed a landmark contract with Kongsberg Maritime AS, part of the Kongsberg Group, for the construction of the first two in a series of Reach Remote unmanned offshore surface vessels (USVs), which will serve as mobile power banks, data centres and communication modules for underwater ROVs (remotely operated vessels). Both the USVs and ROVs will be operated from an onshore control centre.

This means that the diving ro­bot can be used, for ex­ample, to trans­port ob­ser­vat­or­ies to the ocean floor and con­duct in­vest­ig­a­tions at a wa­ter depth of 5,000 meters.

Ultra Electronics Holdings plc (ULE) and Sparton DLS, LLC announce the award of a contract valued at $11.6 million to their ERAPSCO joint venture, against the $222 million competitive Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) production contract for the manufacture of next-generation sonobuoys for the United States Navy. The new buoy type, the AN/SSQ-125A (Q-125A) which was recently officially qualified, was developed by ERAPSCO after 24 months of effort. The Q-125A will provide advanced active sonar capabilities to the U.S. Navy fleet of anti-submarine warfare (ASW) aircraft and will further the U.S. Navy’s ability to counter stealthy modern submarines from our foreign adversaries.

bp and EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG have awarded Fugro a geotechnical site investigation contract for their new offshore wind farms, Morgan and Mona, located in the Irish Sea. This marks bp’s entry into the UK’s offshore wind power sector and, when complete, Morgan and Mona will have a combined generating capacity of 3 GW, sufficient to power the equivalent of 3.4 million UK households with clean electricity.
