Fugro’s Subsea Engineering Solutions Key to Ireland’s Corrib Gas Field Integrity

Fugro has used the survey vessel Edda Sun to deliver an inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) project for Corrib, Ireland’s biggest natural gas field, on behalf of Vermilion Exploration and Production Ireland Limited (Vermilion). The project included deepwater pipeline surveys, inspection of subsea structures, and maintenance tasks using Fugro’s FCV3000 remotely operated vehicle (ROV), and the Edda Sun is now returning to the North Sea to continue its 2020 IRM programme.

Fugro Detours for Ifremer’s Mayotte Underwater Volcano Survey

A Fugro vessel heading from the Netherlands to South Africa has made a 10-day detour to support Ifremer, the French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea, in monitoring a giant active underwater volcano off the east coast of Africa. Ifremer is performing important research on this unique volcano but the latest mission was thrown into jeopardy by the Covid-19 pandemic and associated travel restrictions. When Fugro heard, they diverted the specialist hydrographic survey vessel Fugro Gauss to Mayotte in the Mozambique Channel to support Ifremer’s vital hydrographic survey.

Fugro Starts NOAA Project to Update Florida’s Nautical Charts

Fugro has begun work on its first task order under a recently awarded multi-year hydrographic services contract with the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Located off the north-west coast of Florida, the project involves acquisition of high-resolution bathymetry data over four sites totalling approximately 1475 km2. Deliverables will be issued to NOAA by December and they will use this information to update charted depths and features in the region, many of which predate the 1950s.

Fugro maps Arctic Ocean for Norway’s MAREANO Seabed Mapping Programme

The Norwegian Hydrographic Service has awarded Fugro another hydrographic survey contract as part of the MAREANO seabed mapping programme, financed by Norway’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Environment. Fugro has already completed 10 surveys for the programme since 2006 and acquired over 140 000 km2 of data. This latest survey will collect high-resolution, high-density multibeam echosounder and sub-bottom data to produce seamless datasets for the Norwegian mapping programme. The fieldwork will run from June to late October this year.

Fugro Secures Remote Operations Contract on Well-Safe’s Guardian Rig

Fugro has secured an initial 3-year contract with Well-Safe Solutions, a UK-based offshore well decommissioning service provider. Fugro will deliver their integrated marine-based solution onboard the Well-Safe Guardian rig, Well-Safe Solutions’ bespoke semi-submersible unit for executing subsea well decommissioning work.

Fugro Wins NOAA Contract for Shoreline Mapping Services

Fugro has signed a 5-year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to provide shoreline mapping services in support of the agency’s Coastal Mapping Program. Issued through NOAA’s National Geodetic Survey (NGS), this multi-year contract is NGS’s second consecutive award to Fugro for services such as the provision of aerial imagery, topobathymetric lidar, and shoreline feature compilation. NGS uses these data to update NOAA nautical charts, define US territorial limits, support coastal management activities and perform inundation modelling.

As Fugro’s survey vessels transit to project sites through NOAA-identified areas of interest, remote command and control technologies are used to acquire high-resolution mapping data with minimal crew onboard.

The Australian Government has selected Fugro to join the HydroScheme Industry Partnership Program (HIPP) to increase Australia’s hydrographic industry capability. The panel of industry partners was chosen as part of a long-term strategy to ensure safe shipping routes, commercial ports and maritime approaches within the Australian Charting Area. Panel members will acquire marine environmental data to produce digital maps of Australia’s sea and coastal areas that will improve the safety of maritime vessels operating in Australia’s sea charting area, which covers 10 % of the earth’s surface.

Fugro Awarded Aker Energy Contract for Pecan Field Surveys Offshore Ghana

Aker Energy has awarded Fugro a contract for geotechnical and geophysical survey services in relation to the Pecan field, offshore Ghana. The surveys will obtain critical seabed and sub-seabed information to facilitate the planning and emplacement of the Pecan subsea infrastructure and the floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) ship. “This project will build on the extensive experience that our vessels and staff have gained in Ghana and the wider West Africa region, and we look forward to using this knowledge to execute a safe and successful campaign,” said Jaco Stemmet, Fugro’s Director for Africa.

Fugro Awarded Geotechnical Contract for KrisEnergy’s Cambodia’s Apsara Field

Fugro has been awarded a geotechnical contract for Apsara oil field in Block A, offshore Cambodia, as part of the nation’s first hydrocarbon development. The Apsara field lies over the Khmer Basin, an unproduced geological basin in Cambodian maritime waters in the Gulf of Thailand.

Fugro Partners with Colombian Maritime Authority to Complete Seep Hunting Study

Fugro and the Colombian Maritime Authority (Dirección General Maritima, DIMAR) have completed a joint environmental seep hunting study to help assess the country’s resource potential in the Caribbean Sea. The study involved shallow water seabed sediment coring, geochemical analyses, and seabed heat flow measurements. Fugro also provided classroom and vessel-based training to DIMAR personnel.
