Seabed 2030 Announces New Partnership with the UK Hydrographic Office and Teledyne CARIS on the Occasion of World Hydrography Day

The Nippon Foundation-GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project has entered a technical cooperation agreement with the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO), a world-leading centre for hydrography specialising in marine geospatial data, and Teledyne CARIS, the leading developer of marine mapping software. The Memorandum of Understanding – announced on the first World Hydrography Day to fall within the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development – will see the parties work together to advance the effort associated with producing the definitive map of the seafloor by the year 2030.

Saipem Signs a New Offshore Drilling Contract in the North Sea

Saipem has been awarded by Wintershall Dea Norge a contract for the drilling campaign of six wells plus options to drill additional wells in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. Operations, which are expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2021, will be performed by the semi-submersible rig Scarabeo 8, a drilling unit designed to be “zero pollution and zero discharge” and equipped for operations in harsh environments.

Fugro Minimises In-person Inspections with New Floating Offshore Wind Real-time Monitoring Solution

A Fugro-led consortium that includes AS Mosley and the University of Strathclyde has designed a mooring line fatigue tracker that safely and cost-effectively monitors offshore floating wind turbines, thanks to innovation funding from the Scottish Government. The consortium won the funding to develop the tracker, which fuses the motion and position measurements of floating hulls with a simulation model to monitor fatigue, in March 2020 through the Floating Offshore Wind Technology Acceleration Competition (FLW TAC), which was run by the Carbon Trust’s Floating Wind Joint Industry Project. Having already demonstrated the technology in a relevant environment, Fugro and partners are now identifying opportunities to work with floating wind developers on pre-commercial projects to trial the solution offshore.

Kraken Announces CRADA on Pressure Tolerant Batteries with US Navy

Kraken Robotics Inc., Canada’s Ocean Company, is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary, Kraken Robotic Systems Inc, has signed a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD). Under the CRADA, the Battery Certification and Integration Branch, Code 636 of NSWC Carderock, will test Kraken’s pressure tolerant lithium-ion batteries. The testing is expected to take four months to complete and is expect to start in calendar Q3 of this year.

Havfram is Awarded African Technip Energies Contract

Havfram announced today that Technip Energies has awarded Havfram a contract for the pre-installation and subsequent hook-up of the subsea mooring system for a natural gas Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO).Newly founded Technip Energies is providing this facility to BP, for deployment on the maritime border of Mauritania and Senegal as part of the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) project. The GTA project is an innovative development which will provide gas to both the domestic market and the wider market via the inshore LNG hub/terminal.

Aker Solutions Delivers Johan Sverdrup Platform Jacket on Schedule

Today Aker Solutions delivers yet another steel substructure for the largest industry project ever in Norway, the Johan Sverdrup field. Previously, the company has delivered three platform jackets for phase 1. With this jacket for phase 2 of the project, four out of a total of five jackets have been built and delivered from Aker Solutions’ yard in Verdal, Norway. All platform substructures have been delivered on time, quality and budget. A key focus during the work has also been to improve execution models and to adapt for new types of jobs. As a result, future platform jackets for oil and gas and for renewable energy production can be delivered at a lower cost and with increased competitiveness.

Cranium Engineering Deploys C-Kore Units Again in Nigeria

C-Kore Systems recently completed another successful campaign with VAYCO Oil tools and their Nigerian partner Cranium Engineering for a major oil operator offshore Nigeria. The CKore tools were used to test the electrical integrity of the subsea assets. With their quick results, the C-Kore tools insured minimum interruptions to the field, reducing the vessel time on the operation while not requiring any additional personnel offshore.

Sonardyne Sets UK Goal to Reach Net Zero by the End of 2025
