Survey Equipment Services orders Sonardyne acoustic tracking technology during Underwater Intervention exhibition

Like many organisations, subsea technology company Sonardyne Inc., uses trade shows to launch new products, speak to users about their requirements and identify industry trends. And whilst conversations first held at events regularly lead to a purchase decision, it can be weeks or months later before an order is actually placed.

But that wasn’t the case during the recent Underwater Intervention show in New Orleans when equipment rental company Survey Equipment Services (SES) of Houston, placed an order during the show for a Sonardyne Mini-Ranger 2 USBL tracking system and multiple Nano transponders.

SES’s clients regularly carry out inspection projects using divers working from small boats and barges. Sonardyne’s Mini-Ranger 2 USBL and Nano technology is perfectly suited to these short duration projects; it’s quick to install and easy to use, meaning that tracking underwater targets begin in just a few simple steps.

At the show, the team from SES were particularly interested in the benefits of Nano – Sonardyne’s smallest ever USBL beacon. Measuring just 155mm long and weighing 200 grams in water, Nano is designed to be easily fitted to a diver or small ROV/AUV. It uses contactless charging and incorporates Sonardyne’s 6G Wideband 2 acoustic signal architecture, delivering fast and robust positioning performance, especially in shallow water.

Commenting on the order, Alan Craig, Vice President of SES said:It’s not often that we see equipment at trade shows like Underwater Intervention and decide there and then that we need it in our rental pool. However as soon as we saw the Mini-Ranger 2 and Nano hardware and understood how it would assist our clients in their operations – especially on the safety side - we immediately placed the order.

Dan Zatezalo, Sales Manager for Sonardyne in Houston said:We invest a great deal of time and money attending tradeshows around the world. It can take several months for us to assess the return on investment for each event, but not for this year’s Underwater Intervention. It was very encouraging to close the show with a purchase order in our hands.
