Unmanned Untethered Vehicles (UUVs) – Expanding our capacity for exploration, how far can we go?

Town Hall Description:
The increasing cost effectiveness of UUVs (subsea, surface and aerial craft, autonomous and remotely controlled) is enabling the utilization of the vehicles by the commercial and scientific communities providing effective operational solutions for organizations worldwide. New methods of data collection, coverage rate and endurance enable mesoscale sampling, providing the ability to understand our oceans as never before. However information regarding the state of the unmanned, untethered vehicle technology is often fragmented or biased. This Town Hall will host a panel of UUV experts to lead a discussion on how UUVs can optimize our research.

Potential Presenters:
Moderator: Scott Glenn, Rutgers University

Invitation to Participate:
We invite Town Hall participants to participate in the forum. Participants will be encouraged to submit one slide and have up to three minutes to explain their slide to the audience. A slide template will be available prior to the event, however the topics for the slide include:

• Contact details along with your company or research institute
• What UUV platform are you using?
• What problem were you seeking to solve?
• What were the alternatives proposed?
• Which solution was chosen and why?
• What help do you need from the MTS and the UUV Community?

We look forward to your contributions and discussion.

Location: Charleston, SC, USA
