Leading Scottish employee engagement firm ActivityMix is joining forces with north-east recruitment specialists Cammach Recruitment next month (Wednesday 6th May 2015) to host a motivational seminar for those working within the energy sector as it recovers from the impact of a reduction in oil prices.

The free event is expected to attract business leaders and HR professionals from several leading oil and gas companies. During the session a host of experts will reveal how a change in perspective can help to tackle the aftermath of cost cutting, redundancies and liquidations and lead to positive changes in these challenging times.

Speakers to take to the platform on the night include Andy Blyth, Speaker and Coach of Tree of Knowledge; Jackie Mann, Senior Vice President of HR at Proserv and ex-military man Alex Dey, ICS and Product Training Manager at Nautronix..

Held at Aberdeenshire Cricket Club on Wednesday 6th May, in the city’s West-end, it is the second event to be organised this year as part of ActivityMixs’ ongoing 'Engaging for Success' discussion series. ActivityMix has been running employee engagement programmes in Aberdeen for 12 years with an increasing focus on the presence of in-house employee engagement services. Having recently launched its services in Edinburgh, the business is diversifying its client base, while continuing to work in Aberdeen businesses to improve profits, reduce employee turnover, attract new talent and enhance communication though sport.

The first discussion series event was held on Wednesday 22nd April in Edinburgh. Ed Wilson, Director of PwC, and Chris Paterson, former player and captain for Scottish Rugby, amongst others, shared their advice and knowledge. The topic of discussion was entitled “Driving better productivity by building trust in your team” and saw over 35 Edinburgh businesses attend.

Rick Johnston, founder of ActivityMix says, “We find ourselves operating in very difficult times and for many within the sector the fear, anxiety and even sense of despair felt as a result of cost cutting and redundancies can be crippling.

“This event will inspire you to think out of the box and enthuse you to drive forward with a more positive and resilient outlook. Each speaker will share their experiences, showing how adversities can become opportunities and revealing useful techniques that will help you to adapt to the challenges that lie before you.”

With a background in sports psychology, coach and speaker Andy Blyth is set to highlight how to help shape a better future using theories and studies taken from his time working with elite performing athletes. Jackie Mann, HR professional, will share her experiences of leading a team through challenging times and promoting a positive approach to the future, whilst ex-military man Alex Dey will reveal how he made the transition into the oil and gas sector after 24 years in the RAF.
