ENPRO Subsea’s managing director Ian Donald has been recognised by his peers for his outstanding contribution to the sector at the prestigious Subsea UK Awards 2017.

Mr Donald was commended for his pioneering work, which has seen innovative solutions redefine key sections of the marketplace, during a black-tie dinner attended by around 600 industry leaders in Aberdeen (Thursday 2nd February 2017).

He was chosen to receive the accolade in light of his leadership, creativity and commitment to delivering results in both enhanced recovery and subsea decommissioning arenas.

Mr Donald has been instrumental in bringing a number of game-changing technologies to the subsea industry, including the MARS (Multiple Application Reinjection System), the ESSI Decom (Enhanced Subsea Sampling and Injection) system and the pioneering FAM (Flow Access Module) technology which is becoming a new industry standard for flexible subsea enhanced production intervention.

The panel also commended his engagement in the subsea and field development aspects of the offshore energy business over the past three decades, having fulfilled roles at board, executive, technical and project management level within operator, major service companies and SME environments with demonstrable success.

“This is truly an honour to be recognised by our peers, both for myself and the talented team at Enpro Subsea,” said Mr Donald. “Our team could not have achieved success without the openness of our clients to seek and adopt innovative solutions in all phases of subsea field life.”

Mr Donald’s achievement comes hot on the heels of the Aberdeenshire-based firm’s announcement last month of a research and development grant from Scottish Enterprise.

The funding will see the company investing £1.5million to develop its ESSI flow assurance technology further to address emerging markets in deeper waters.
