Tethys Robotics is an Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) developer founded by Christian Engler and fellow pioneering ETH Zurich students in 2019. Tethys aims to push boundaries for underwater exploration in Switzerland, where large waterways including lakes and rivers are abundant, as well as contribute to the countries hydroelectric industry. Since Tethys launched with their flagship vehicle, the ‘SCUBA 2.0’ they have found further success with the recent release of ‘Proteus’, an omnidirectional ROV appointed with a stereo camera, depth sensor, IMU, SBL and sonar, certified to 300m depths.

Australian Manufacturer Develops Cutting Edge Tool for Underwater Recovery

The custom recovery jaws will assist HEART with underwater recovery missions Blueprint Lab, an Australian robotics manufacturer, has developed custom jaws for their Alpha robotic arm which will allow for greater grip on fabric when resurfacing underwater drowning victims. This tool was developed for the Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Rescue Team (HEART).

Alpha has opened a new training centre in Houston after achieving accreditation from the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) to deliver its Basic Safety Training (BST). The base makes the company one of only seven providers accredited to supply the globally recognised GWO training courses in the United States.

THURN Group Orders SL40 Autonomous Survey Boat For Product Development

THURN Group (Norwich, UK) has purchased a new SL40 autonomous survey vessel from OceanAlpha (Hong Kong). The 32kg 1.6m vessel will be equipped with 40Ah of Lithium-Polymer batteries for up to 10 hour endurance at survey speeds, with waterjet propulsion, data and control telemetry, a video monitoring system, collision avoidance sensors, and USV mission planning software.

Sonardyne acoustics chosen for flagship Brazilian research vessel
