ITF has also made the submissions process for inventors and technologists simpler than ever, with only a short abstract required in the first instance.

£1million funding to encourage oil and gas innovation

The Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF) and the Oil & Gas Innovation Centre (OGIC) have joined forces to fund and support the development of innovations which could reduce costs, raise production efficiency, and improve safety and environmental performance. OGIC has made £1 million available to support companies with projects that require research and development to be undertaken at a Scottish university. OGIC can fund up to 70% of these costs and ITF can potentially ‘top-up’ financial support if an innovative project engages the interest of its members.

ITF steps up action to solve costly pipe-walking problems

The Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF) is welcoming additional participants to a new joint industry project (JIP) to develop pipeline anchoring and monitoring systems which could mitigate the risk of pipeline walking and cut pipeline anchor installation costs in half. The Anchoring Pipeline Technology (APT) JIP will bring together major global operators and pipeline installation companies to collaborate with ITF and Crondall Energy, an independent oil and gas consultancy, to investigate alternative and less costly solutions and create a roadmap on how to manage and mitigate the pipe-walking challenge.

INTECSEA senior vice president joins ITF board

The Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF) has appointed Richard Luff to its board as a non-executive director. A chartered Civil Engineer, Richard has over 40 years’ experience in the oil and gas sector and currently serves as INTECSEA’s senior vice president for the Europe and Africa region.

ITF-facilitated JIP enters trial phase to provide clearer understanding of subsea faults

A joint industry project established through The Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF) has entered a trial phase with the support of oil and gas operators. A new technology system designed to address a common problem in the subsea industry is undergoing a shallow water trial at Portishead Quays marina. The system will help to identify the location of electrical faults on subsea installations and will enable field operators to better plan for repair or replacement of failed components which could save the industry millions of pounds in halted production. The system, known as V-IR, has been developed by Viper Subsea with the support of Total, BP, Shell, and Chevron.

- Using technology to transform costs - Call for proposals launched for Technology Showcase 2016

The Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF) is seeking proposals on the oil and gas innovations which can make the biggest impacts in transforming costs and increasing efficiencies for its Technology Showcase 2016. The event, held in collaboration with Oil & Gas UK, comprises both a conference and an exhibition on Wednesday 9th March 2016 at the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre. It has the support of a number of organisations including the Oil & Gas Authority along with global operators and service companies that are hosting technical sessions including Shell, Baker Hughes, TOTAL, AMEC, Centrica, EnQuest and GE Oil & Gas.
