Benthic Completed CPT Site Investigation for Equinor’s Baltyk II and III Offshore Wind Farms in the Baltic Sea

Benthic, a Geo-services brand in Acteon’s Data and Robotics division, completed a site investigation comprising cone penetration tests (CPTs) using its portable remotely operated drill (PROD) that has enabled the design of foundations for about 100 wind turbines and two offshore substations for the Baltyk II and III wind farms offshore Poland in the Baltic Sea. The work for the developments, which are 50–50 joint venture between Norwegian energy company Equinor and Polish power utility company Polenergia, was performed at 16 locations in 40–55 m water depths.

Leonardo Stands Ready for Second OCEAN2020 Demonstration

The second OCEAN2020 demonstration is due to take place in the Baltic Sea in the end of August. The exercise, which will be coordinated by Saab, will focus upon how naval forces can detect and identify high-speed surface threats and unknown submerged activity. OCEAN2020 is the largest European funded defence research project for maritime surveillance and sees Leonardo coordinating a team of 43 partners from 15 countries. The Baltic Sea demo will involve 13 unmanned systems, four naval units – a Swedish Support Ship, Lithuanian Patrol Vessel, Polish Mine Hunter and a German Research Vessel - a satellite and two command centres.

Novacavi supports Danish Defence subsea demining

Specialist cable manufacturer Novacavi has recently engineered, manufactured and supplied tough and size contained custom cables in support of the Danish Defence subsea demining program. Tasked by the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation, Novacavi technical project team developed an high technology underwater hybrid cable that allows ROVs to enhance and extend operational capabilities in Baltic Sea water.

Nord Stream Awards Contract for External Inspection of the Pipeline to MMT

MMT Sweden has been awarded a three-year contract by Nord Stream AG to inspect both lines of the Nord Stream Pipeline running through the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany. The external inspection of the pipeline will be executed by the joint venture between MMT Sweden and Reach Subsea.

Forum signs Comanche deal with Baltic Diver Germany

Forum Energy Technologies, Inc. is pleased to announce the sale of two Sub-Atlantic™ Comanche ROVs to international diving contractor Baltic Taucherei- und Bergungsbetrieb Rostock GmbH (Baltic Diver Germany). The deal, supported by distributor Scholz Ingenieur Bϋro, will see both systems delivered at the beginning of May 2017 following an optimised manufacturing schedule. The Forum Sub-Atlantic Comanche was chosen due to its high thrust-to-weight ratio and compact laydown requirements which make it ideally suited for the operating environments expected by Baltic Diver.

Fugro wins early geotechnical investigation in one of Europe's largest infrastructure projects

Fugro has been awarded the Geotechnical Verification Investigations 2015 programme by Femern A/S, owner of the Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link project. The planned 18 kilometre-long immersed tunnel will connect Denmark and Germany as part of the Scandinavian-Mediterranean corridor, one of the EU’s nine priority network corridors. Detailed knowledge of the subsurface soil properties is key for the proper design and execution of this challenging tunnel construction, for which the world’s largest construction and marine dredging companies are amongst the bidders.

Positive Results from 2014 External Inspection Survey of Nord Stream Pipeline

Nord Stream has completed an external inspection of the two pipelines. The job was executed using a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), equipped with digital cameras, specific sensors and operated from a dedicated support vessel. The visual and instrumental (geophysical) inspection was performed on the whole length of the pipelines through the Baltic Sea.
