Atlantas Marine launches new video tool for ROV surveys

Atlantas Marine Ltd has made its first move into ROV instrumentation with the design and manufacture of a video overlay device intended to make cathodic protection surveys easier and faster. Being shown in public for the first time at Oceanology International (Stand E 201), the new tool has been designed to display the readings obtained by a cathodic protection probe as an overlay on the ROV’s video display. This creates a permanent record and eliminates the need for the ROV operator to make handwritten notes of individual probe readings while surveying the condition of a vessel’s anodes.

NORBIT has secured orders from Jan De Nul Group, through their Benelux dealer Seabed BV, for several tightly integrated all-in-one turnkey multibeam sonar systems. These compact survey systems allow for fastest set-to-work on any sized survey platform while allowing for highest quality broadband FM data from a forgiving curved receiver array. The systems each include a full Inertial Navigation Systems and surface sound speed probe and only one cable from wet-end to the small splash-proof topside.

The rise of ‘ROV DP’, the capability to hold an ROV (remotely operated vehicle) stationary in the water column, has led to an increase in the sharing of ROV-mounted sensors, for ROV positioning, imaging and survey purposes. A workshop, organised by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) during Oceanology International 2016 (OI2016), will discuss the opportunities and challenges arising from this shared use of sensors and consider the future for this developing field of technologies.

One of the world’s leading subsea training and trials facility, The Underwater Centre, has been identified as one of London Stock Exchange’s ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain’. The report, which was launched at a special event in London, is a celebration of the UK’s fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium sized businesses. To be included in the list, companies needed to show consistent revenue growth over a minimum of three years, significantly outperforming their industry peers.
