MTS and SUT Announce Winners of the 2021 Captain Don Walsh Award for Ocean Exploration

The Marine Technology Society (MTS) and The Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) are proud to announce that the 2021 Captain Don Walsh Award for Ocean Exploration has been won jointly by Commander Victor Vescovo, USN, Retired and Patrick Lahey for the 2019 Five Deeps Expedition and further dives of scientific or historical interest in subsequent years.

Dr. Widder is an MTS member, MacArthur Fellow, a deep-sea explorer, and conservationist who combines expertise in oceanographic research and technological innovation with a commitment to reversing the worldwide trend of marine ecosystem degradation.

Rear Adm. Tim Gallaudet to Speak at Opening Plenary of OCEANS'15 in Washington, DC

OCEANS'15 MTS/IEEE Washington, DC is pleased to announce that Rear Adm. Tim Gallaudet, USN will be joining Honorary Co-chair Dr. Rick Spinrad as our featured Plenary speakers. The conference will be held October 19-22 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. The Plenary Session is part of the opening ceremony on Tuesday morning, October 20, and is open to all registrants. Those not registered for the conference, may attend the Plenary and visit the Exhibition Hall at no charge by registering for "Exhibits Only" to get an entrance badge. Rear Adm. Gallaudet heads the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command and oversees the collection, processing and exploitation of accurate, relevant and timely oceanographic, meteorological, hydrographic, precise time and astrometric information. In September he will also assume the duties of Oceanographer of the Navy.
