U-Boat Worx unveils luxury submarines for Seabourn expedition ships

02.07.2019

U-Boat Worx is proud to have been selected for the delivery of four “Cruise Sub 7 – 300” submersibles to the latest Seabourn cruise ship to be launched, “Venture”; and her (yet-to-be-named) sister ship.

Each 178 meter vessel will be sailing globally – from the Arctic to the Antarctic and points in between; showcasing U-Boat Worx submarines which have the capability of diving to 300 meters.

The submersibles are designed and manufactured to the highest international marine standards, and are certified for continuous dive operations of up to 8 hours. All U-Boat Worx submersibles are equipped with a multitude of safety features. Independent certification by classification society DNV GL provides international compliance. The submersibles are battery-powered and
therefore have no adverse environmental impacts.

The interior specification of this model of submarine features revolving seating within the acrylic viewing sphere, enabling passengers to experience an optimal view while underwater, regardless of direction.

Following the successful installation of U-Boat Worx submersibles aboard similar cruise ships - including The Taipan from Star Cruises and the Crystal Esprit - the Netherlands-based submersible manufacturer is seeing increased demand from the cruise industry.

“Our operations on cruise ships have inspired the development of our Cruise Sub series,” said Bert Houtman, Founder and Chairman of U-Boat Worx. “Whether the operator is involved in deep-sea exploration at remote locations, or is undertaking repeat sub-sea excursions around coral reefs, our Cruise Subs provide an optimal and unforgettable underwater dive experience for passengers.”

As the most sought-after submersible supplier to the cruise industry worldwide, U-Boat Worx will continue to expand its industry-leading Cruise Sub range; and as such, with each submersible sold to the cruise ship industry and increasing numbers of passengers able to experience the marvels of the underwater world, the company’s mission statement – “to make the wonders of the deep accessible to everyone” – is coming to fruition.
