Four Saab Seaeye Leopard work vehicles have been ordered by Belov Engenharia for Petrobras operations in Brazil.

Sixth generation (6G) underwater positioning technology from Sonardyne Brasil Ltda. has been chosen by vessel owner and operator Companhia Brasileira de Offshore (CBO) to meet Brazil’s stringent new contracting specifications for subsea positioning.

DOF Subsea has been awarded two new ROV contracts by Petrobras in Brazil for ROVs to be installed on board Skandi Angra and Skandi Paraty. The new contracts start in April 2018 and end in September and November 2020, respectively.

Fugro has been awarded a further 2-year contract by Petrobras to provide comprehensive inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) and pipeline inspection services in Brazil.

Seabed Geosolutions has been awarded a large 3D ocean bottom node (OBN) survey in the Santos Basin in Brazil. Seabed Geosolutions’ new, highly efficient Manta© node system will be used. The seven month contract is valued at around 90 million USD and is scheduled to commence at the end of the fourth quarter of 2017 or early 2018.

Pedro Parente, CEO of Petrobras and Robin Watson, chief executive of Wood Group are to speak at the opening plenary session at SPE Offshore Europe 2017 which is being held in Aberdeen from 5-8 September 2017. They will join Ben van Beurden, CEO of Royal Dutch Shell and Bob Dudley, group chief executive of BP to address the central theme of Embracing New Realities: Reinventing our Industry in a top CEO line-up on the opening day of Europe’s foremost exploration and production (E&P) technical conference and exhibition.

Hydrocarbon production from the ‘Golden Triangle’ – incorporating the deepwater (>500 m water depth) plays of Brazil, the US Gulf of Mexico and West Africa – will peak in 2019 due to the lack of projects sanctioned in recent years. Production data from Douglas-Westwood’s (DW) new online analysis tool, SECTORS, shows combined oil & gas production will reach its crux in two years’ time at some 7.1 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (mmboe/d) before declining into the 2020s. This is largely due to Petrobras’ continuing financial and tendering problems in addition to significant delays to large developments in West Africa – notably Bonga South-West (Shell) and Zabazaba (Eni).

Brazil’s most advanced ROV support vessel (RSV), the Fugro Aquarius, has specified acoustic positioning technology supplied by Sonardyne Brasil Ltda., to support its subsea inspection, repair and maintenance activities in the region. Already delivered and fully commissioned, the Ranger 2 Ultra-Short BaseLine (USBL) system is being used to track the precise position of the vessel’s Work-class ROVs in water depths of upto 3,000 metres. It is also providing the vessel’s dynamic positioning (DP) system with position reference data to allow it to remain on-location whilst survey operations are underway.

Technip has signed a four years extension of its five-year initial contract signed in January 2011 with Petrobras S.A. for its Flexible Pipes Logistic Base (BAVIT), located in Vitória, Brazil.

Aker Solutions secured an agreement to provide maintenance and other services for subsea facilities at Petrobras-operated oil and gas fields offshore Brazil. The contract is for a fixed term of three years valued at BRL 435 million net of taxes (NOK 1 billion) and may be extended by another three years. It covers maintenance, storage, supply of parts and technical assistance for all subsea equipment delivered by Aker Solutions to Petrobras in Brazil.

Fugro has been awarded an inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) contract by Petrobras in Brazil. Under the contract Fugro will deploy its new 83-metre ROV support vessel, Fugro Aquarius, for the IRM activities. The contract duration is one year with an option for an additional year.

The last two ROVs to leave TMT mark a major milestone in a very significant contract for the company and an important motivator of growth and development.
