Valeport has been awarded Cyber Essentials Plus certification, the more rigorous level of accreditation in the Government backed scheme that helps organisations protect against a range of the most common cyber attacks. Harwich Haven Authority (HHA) has chosen OceanWise to supply, install and maintain new tide and weather systems at the 900-year old east coast of England port. Valeport has reported a surge in sales of tide gauge equipment in its most recent quarter. The UK’s leading manufacturer of oceanographic, hydrographic and hydrometric instrumentation said that sales of tide gauge equipment rose 22% over the same period in 2016. Teledyne’s rapidCAST and Valeport’s SVT Probe, purchased during the recent Ocean Business exhibition in Southampton, will be the latest products to join STR’s diverse range of sensor deployment and handling systems. The rapidCAST System has the ability to collect and transmit survey data without having to recover the probe on board at the end of each cast making any profiling exercise far more efficient. It also improves the targeting accuracy of probes as the need for conducting cable is removed.

Ports of Jersey took delivery of a new Multi-Beam system from Swathe Services last week. The comprehensive equipment, software and support package was chosen by Aaron Gavey, Deputy Marine Operations Manager, to enhance the organisation’s new commercial survey capability. Ports of Jersey engaged in an extensive trial period alongside a competitive tender process. As a result, Swathe Services was chosen to deliver the R2Sonic Sonic 2024 with TruePix and UHR 700 kHz capability.
