MARUM - Cen­ter for Mar­ine En­vir­on­mental Sci­ences at the Uni­versity of Bre­men is get­ting a new ROV. The new sys­tem has a higher per­form­ance than ROV MARUM-QUEST. This means that the diving ro­bot can be used, for ex­ample, to trans­port ob­ser­vat­or­ies to the ocean floor and con­duct in­vest­ig­a­tions at a wa­ter depth of 5,000 meters.

As part of the expansion of its clean energy portfolio, Legal & General Capital (Legal & General) alongside the venture capital arm of the international energy company Equinor, announces that it has co-led the Series B raise into affiliated, innovative technology and renewables businesses, Rovco and its sister company Vaarst. Legal & General will invest £8.5m out of £15.2m raise. Other participants include existing shareholder Foresight Group, and In-Q-Tel, strategic investor for the US intelligence and defence communities and allied nations.

Hydromea Successfully Trials its Wireless ROV System at TotalEnergies Offshore Site in the North Sea

Hydromea successfully trialed EXRAY, its wireless underwater ROV system, within a full ballast water tank on one of TotalEnergies’ North Sea floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels during November 2021. EXRAY was deployed to collect visual inspection data, validating system performance including wireless navigation and wireless communication.

Another Saab Seaeye Tiger-N ROV Goes Nuclear

Built to survive in nuclear storage ponds, a sixth Saab Seaeye Tiger-N robot has been ordered for the Sellafield nuclear site. The sixth Seaeye Tiger-N joins a fleet of nuclear-environment enabled Seaeye Tiger-Ns, deployed to gather and sort, metre-long, 15kg radioactive fuel bars, for removal to long-term storage, among other roles.
