Boskalis Wins two Major Dike Reinforcement Projects in the Netherlands

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) has won two major dike reinforcement projects in the Netherlands, namely the IJsseldijk Zwolle-Olst project and the Krachtige IJsseldijken Krimpenerwaard. The projects are part of the national Flood Protection Program in which the government and regional Water Boards work together to protect the Netherlands against flooding. Based on current estimates, the combined contract value for Boskalis amounts to approximately EUR 200 million.

Fugro’s Subsea Engineering Solutions Key to Ireland’s Corrib Gas Field Integrity

Fugro has used the survey vessel Edda Sun to deliver an inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) project for Corrib, Ireland’s biggest natural gas field, on behalf of Vermilion Exploration and Production Ireland Limited (Vermilion). The project included deepwater pipeline surveys, inspection of subsea structures, and maintenance tasks using Fugro’s FCV3000 remotely operated vehicle (ROV), and the Edda Sun is now returning to the North Sea to continue its 2020 IRM programme.

During April, Cygnus Instruments Ltd were approached by a potential customer who asked about the prices for a suitable gauge for measuring the thickness of steel, over a couple of days of discussion we found out they were part of the Calshot trust who is a registered charity for the restoration of tug / tender Calshot. Cygnus decided to donate a multi-mode Cygnus 4+ ultrasonic thickness gauge that is ideal for measuring through coatings and measuring heavily corroded steel with suitable probes to help with this good cause and to restore this ship to be seaworthy again.

Scientists working remotely with Schmidt Ocean Institute, one of the only at-sea science expeditions to continue operating during the global pandemic, have completed a first look at deep waters in the Coral Sea never before seen. The Australian science team discovered the deepest living hard corals in Eastern Australian waters, sighted fish in regions where they had never been found before, and identified up to 10 new marine species of fish, snails, and sponges.

Subsea 7 Awarded Renewables Contract Offshore Scotland

Subsea 7 announced today the award of a major(1) contract by SSE Renewables for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the foundations and inter array cables for the Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm project, 27km offshore Scotland. The Seagreen development will be a 1,075MW offshore wind farm, comprising 114 wind turbines located off the east coast of Scotland.

Consortium of Boskalis, Bouygues and Saipem Selected for Fecamp Offshore Wind Farm Foundations

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) in consortium with Bouygues Travaux Publics (Bouygues) and Saipem has been awarded the design work, construction and installation scope for 71 concrete Gravity-Based Structures (GBS) as foundation for the Fécamp offshore wind farm in Normandy, France. The award was made by Eoliennes Offshore des Hautes Falaises (EOHF). The contract carries a total value of EUR 552 million and the contract value split being 40.5% (Bouygues Travaux Publics) 40.5% (Saipem) 19% (Boskalis).

Boskalis Awarded two Dredging Contracts in Finland

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) has been awarded two contracts in Finland by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency, the Port of Helsinki and the City of Helsinki with a combined contract value of EUR 32 million. In the Port of Helsinki, Boskalis will deepen de Vuosaari fairway and harbor basin from eleven to thirteen meters and utilize a part of the dredged material for the development of Helsinki’s Hernesaari area, which is close to the center of the city. The activities will commence immediately and are due to be completed by the end of 2021.
