Fugro Wins Another IRM Contract with Petrobras in Brazil

Petrobras has awarded Fugro a 3-year contract for subsea inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) services in Brazil. The contract is set to begin in Q4 2021 and will be accomplished from the Fugro Aquarius using two Fugro-built 3000 m work-class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). The award follows the successful completion of a previous 4-year contract for similar services aboard the same vessel.

FET to deliver next-generation ROVs to DOF Subsea

Forum Energy Technologies, Inc. (FET) today announced that it has secured an order from DOF Subsea to supply two of its improved 200HP Perry XLX-C work-class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). The advanced ROVs will add fresh capability to the DOF Subsea fleet and can pave the way for aged asset renewals with a new and improved class of ROV. The systems will be manufactured at FET’s UK facility at Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire and will be delivered in the second half of 2021.

Major New International Expedition Sets Sail

Seamor Marine ROV Locates and Surveys Downed Cargo Plane

Last week SEAMOR Marine’s Chinook ROV was used by Honolulu-based Sea Engineering, Inc. to help locate and survey a downed Boeing 737 cargo plane. The plane crashed shortly after takeoff about two miles offshore from Ewa Beach in Oahu, Hawaii, and sank to the seafloor at a depth of 350 to 450 feet - a depth too dangerous for divers to navigate. The only two passengers onboard Transair flight 810, both pilots, were rescued by helicopter.

Remote Offshore Rescue Service among Robotics Backed by UK Government

UK offshore wind workers could be kept safe using a remotely operated search and rescue service, thanks to a project backed by £7 million of government support. This project is one of 38 business-led projects which will receive funding to accelerate their robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. The projects are part of UK Research and Innovation’s robots for a safer world challenge.
