Ocean Winds East Announces Name of New York Bight Project as BLUEPOINT WIND

Ocean Winds East, LLC, (OW East) today announced Bluepoint Wind as the official name of its planned offshore wind power project in the New York Bight. The project will be located 38 nautical miles off the coast of New York and 53 nautical miles off the coast of New Jersey and will be able to generate up to 1.7 gigawatts of clean energy, powering up to 900,000 homes, and avoiding an estimated 5 million metric tons of CO2 – the primary cause of climate change. The project will help nearby states achieve important greenhouse gas reduction goals and offshore wind targets including New York’s goal of developing 9,000 megawatts of offshore wind energy by 2035 and New Jersey’s goal of developing 7,500 megawatts of offshore wind energy by 2035.

Ocean Winds and Shell awarded 400 MW in Massachusetts’ Offshore Wind Energy Procurement

Mayflower Wind, the developer of the offshore wind project in joint venture (50:50) between Shell New Energies and Ocean Winds, announced it was awarded a 400 MW Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and its three biggest utilities as part of Massachusetts’ 83C III offshore wind energy procurement. Combined with its 804MW PPA from 83C II, Mayflower Wind will now provide more than 1200 MW of clean energy to electricity customers throughout Massachusetts and represents a first phase of its federal lease area.

Fugro Wraps up Offshore Field Programme for Mayflower Wind in US

Fugro has successfully completed a large site characterisation field programme off the coast of Massachusetts for Mayflower Wind, a joint venture between Shell New Energies and Ocean Winds (the global offshore wind collaboration of Engie and EDP Renewables).
