Agilica BV, a spin-out from the Royal Military Academy of Belgium, has successfully completed a European Space Agency (ESA)-funded feasibility study to develop a breakthrough Alternative PNT (Positioning, Navigation, Timing) system enabling precision drone navigation and landing in environments where GNSS signals are degraded or unavailable. This achievement represents a critical step on the commercialisation roadmap of Agilica’s core product — the AGL system — by adding built-in compatibility with GNSS and Galileo High Accuracy Service (HAS) to their Ultra-Wideband (UWB) positioning solution for drones in the maritime, logistics, and urban air mobility sectors.

London robotics startup, Samudra Oceans, has secured a £150,000 investment from British Design Fund, as part of a £800,000 pre-seed funding round, for its technology that aims to positively impact sea farming and the blue economy.

The Ocean Startup Project has launched its second Ocean Startup Challenge. Up from last year’s $350,000 in prize money, the 2021 edition of the competition will award up to $1.4 million to ocean innovators and entrepreneurs from rural, Indigenous, and urban communities across Canada and internationally.

Fledging subsea firms will discover how they can overcome common financial challenges through industry supported and government-backed initiatives at an event in Aberdeen on 26th October. The workshop will explore the wide range of tools and resources available to SMEs, technology developers and innovative companies, providing market expertise, funding, skills and organisational support.
