L3Harris, Voyis and Wavefront collaborate to deliver advanced technology to enhance NATO Navy’s autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) capabilities. L3Harris’ area of expertise is the development of AUVs for a variety of maritime applications. AUVs are designed to operate in harsh environments, including deep water and can be used for a range of missions, including search and rescue, surveillance, mine countermeasures and oceanography. L3Harris is at the forefront of AUV development and continuously advances its technology to meet critical evolving defence mission needs. To further improve L3Harris’ Iver4 900 AUV capabilities, the global defence company integrated a Voyis Recon LS and the Wavefront Solstice 3000 multiple-aperture sonar (MAS) Combined AUV payload onto the Iver4 900 platform to support defence missions.

Two Canadian underwater technology powerhouses, Voyis and Deep Trekker, have joined forces to achieve an exceptional integration: the successful fusion of Voyis' cutting-edge Discovery camera with Deep Trekker's REVOLUTION ROV (Remote Operating Vehicle).

Voyis is proud to launch its new product line, Discovery Vision Systems, to address the trade-off that is currently made between Piloting Cameras and 3D Inspection Cameras. Piloting cameras prioritize low latency video at the expense of the image data required for 3D model generation. Conversely, 3D cameras prioritize image data at the expense of piloting effectiveness, limited by a higher latency and smaller field of view. The Discovery is a vision platform without compromise, delivering 4K piloting video together with 3D data.

DOF Brazil acquired from Voyis three units of the Insight Micro Laser Scanner and Stills Camera. The optical sensor will allow DOF to create high accuracy 3D models of offshore energy subsea assets in real-time to reduce risk and provide accurate record of the current state of the structure. Additionally, it will allow users to capture high resolutions still images, corrected in real time for true colour and light levelling.

Today, Canada’s Ocean Supercluster announced five new projects with a total value of nearly $29 million, including the Autonomous Remote Offshore Wind Inspection, Navigation and Deployment (AROWIND) Project. This Ontario-led project will develop an uncrewed surface vessel (USV) based subsea inspection solution for offshore windfarms.

Voyis is excited to announce that they will be providing their Insight Pro underwater laser scanner and Observer stills camera system for the Endurance22 project. The project sets out to locate and document Sir Ernest Shackleton’s ship, Endurance, believed to be at a depth of over 3000m. Shackleton was a famous polar explorer whose ship sunk in the Antarctic in 1915.
