Ocean Business 2015 Reveals Action Packed Training & Demonstration Programme

10.12.2014

With over 180 hours of free training a nd demonstration sessions, visitors are offered an unparalleled opportunity to learn a staggering amount about the latest products, technologies and techniques from the industry's best. Sessions are held in a test tank, in dockside waters, onboard vessels and in classrooms.

Cheri Arvonio, Ocean Business’ event manager, comments, "This year we have been overwhelmed by demand for training and demonstration sessions - it says a lot about the success of Ocean Business and the industry as a whole that we have so many companies eager to demonstrate their technologies. We’re also expecting a good number of vessels at this year’s show, and I'm excited to say there are many exciting and innovative products to be presented during the training and demonstration sessions."

As well as new products, there are also a number of companies new to the training and demonstration programme. These include biodiversity information specialist, Proteus; ROV video systems expert, Outland Technology; laser particle sizer manufacturer, Sequoia; and Kraken Sonar with its ultra high resolution sonar technology, to name a few.

Companies such as Topcon and RIEGL will be demonstrating clever new aerial technologies for coastal mapping, with Topcon presenting its new fixed wing unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and RIEGL demonstrating airborne laser scanning systems for topo-hydrographic surveying. An autonomous survey boat will be introduced by Oceanscience in a multibeam echosounder demonstration and other high-tech information companies such as OceanWise will be discussing options for sharing and publishing environmental data for tidal monitoring systems.

Some of the industry’s biggest players will be offering a combination of live demonstrations and classroom opportunities, so visitors can understand technology and technique, as well as actually ‘road-test’ them. Some such as Kongsberg Maritime, will be presenting at almost hourly intervals onboard the Bill Conway on the first day of the show, to give visitors the best opportunity to learn about its technologies. Peter Bennett, Business Manager, Kongsberg Maritime comments, "Ocean Business is a key exhibition for us and the demonstrations offer an excellent opportunity to introduce our latest product innovations to the market. The event is highly focused and we’re looking forward to another successful show in 2015."

As in previous years, all sessions are free to attend. Visitors may book their attendance in advance by contacting the company hosting the session or simply turn up on the day and book onto a session on a first come, first served basis.
