Requirements & Summary

We are seeking a senior mechanical design engineer who is passionate about the ocean and is looking to have an impact on how people understand and explore this critical habitat. As part of our team, you will develop new hardware and new technologies as well as improve existing designs. Your work will be vital to the future of marine robotics and will contribute to solving some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges. Buckle up – it’s going to be a fun ride.

Responsibilities
Under the direction of the senior director of engineering, you will:
• Design, build, and test mechanical and structural systems and subsystems
• Create manufacturing drawings for internal and external resources
• Perform static and dynamic FEA of components and assemblies as required
• Manage company CAD files according to company policies and procedures
• Perform quality control of mechanical assemblies
• Work with vendors to obtain quotes and order materials and components
• Work with consultants and other outside organizations when needed on engineering projects

Required Qualifications
• Approximately 10 years of engineering design experience in the maritime industry
• Advanced-level proficiency in Inventor and/or Solidworks
• Established track record in marine innovation, engineering and development
• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field

Desired Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Proficient in Fluids Simulation using CFD software
• Failure analysis
