Stockbridge High School Underwater Robotics Team Fundraising

The Stockbridge High School Underwater Robotics Team, consisting of 10 high school students, are preparing for their fourth mission to Palau and need your support to help in fundraising as they are short of their goal of $25,000 that is required to unlock the funds.

Palau is an island in the Western Pacific Ocean, where the Battle of Peleliu took place during WWII. This battle was fought between the Japanese and the Americans, and there are still many American servicemen that are MIA.





"We have used our underwater remotely operated vehicle to assist the BentProp project in searching for these men. This project has allowed our team to pursue a goal we are all very passionate about, as well as an opportunity to solve a real-world issue with our engineering skills." said Robert Richards, leader of the Stockbridge High School Underwater Robotics Team.


Richards continued: "Each year, we fundraise for all of the improvements to our UROV, our travel, our hotel arrangements, and the boat rental in Palau. We do this by writing grants, but the plane tickets we buy are funded directly from us. Each year we have been able to fundraise over $40,000 to complete our mission. This year, we are behind on our fundraising efforts, and we have to pay for our plane tickets by Tuesday.
