Pryme Group has announced the appointment of a highly respected industry figure to the post of managing director at its recently-opened Centre of Excellence in North Tyneside.

Terry Larkin possesses more than 25 years’ experience in senior management positions with a strong track-record in successfully managing transformational change projects, establishing positive reporting procedures and achieving double-digit growth year-on-year.

With headquarters in Dundee and operations across the UK, Pryme Group is a leading provider of integrated manufacturing solutions to clients across the oil and gas, aerospace and defence industries.

Newcastle-born Mr Larkin brings a wealth of expertise in the aerospace, automotive and manufacturing industries. He was most recently operations director and board member at marine safety specialist, 3Si Group. He exited the business late last year following its sale to Alliance Marine Group (AMG) in October.

Since 2016, Terry had been responsible for bringing together distinct business units in the aftermath of their respective acquisitions by 3Si Group; enabling them to function as an effective unit. He has also performed senior roles in the UK, Europe and North America including operations director at Zodiac Aerospace and plant manager for the company’s automotive division in the UK and Spain.

Mr Larkin will now assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations of Pryme Group’s state-of-the-art facility. The £10million development was officially opened in November (2018) by the elected mayor of North Tyneside, Norma Redfearn CBE.

Terry Larkin commented: “I believe there is huge potential to grow the business by bringing our in-house expertise and capabilities to the wider market across the key target sectors of oil and gas, aerospace and defence.

“Pryme Group has invested a great deal in this new facility, which clearly demonstrates the intent from the owners to take full advantage of growth opportunities both now and in the near future.

“I’m a long-time and very passionate advocate of manufacturing talent in North Tyneside and the wider north-east of England. In my experience, there is genuine demand for a quality machine workshop that can provide on-time delivery.

“We have all the right infrastructure in place to become a tier-one supplier for major global businesses. Supported by the fantastic team we have here in North Tyneside and across the UK, we are looking to engage further with clients to highlight our full range of products and services.”

Angus Gray, CEO at Pryme Group, added: “Terry is a well-known and highly respected industry executive, with a strong history of growing companies through effective leadership and proven experience in bringing about positive cultural change within organisations.

“At this exciting juncture for our North Tyneside operation, we believe Terry’s knowledge, experience and credentials are the perfect fit for Pryme Group as we pursue our ambitious growth objectives.”

The 58,000 sq. ft Pryme Group Centre of Excellence has been supported by both public and private sector organisations, including UK Land Estates, North Tyneside Council and the North East Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

Pryme Group employs around 230 people at operations across the UK including North Shields, Dundee, Aberdeenshire, Altrincham and Morecambe. It expects to more than double its current workforce in North Tyneside to 150 in the next five years and is actively recruiting for new personnel, including CNC operators.

The business has invested £4.2million to date in equipment and CNC machinery with new technology and increased efficiencies expected to result in a boost to revenue and improved on-time delivery, whilst allowing the company’s customer base to bring innovative products to market.
