Trelleborg exhibits innovative subsea solutions at Underwater Intervention 2016

11.02.2016
Trelleborg’s applied technologies operation will showcase its innovative range of high performance solutions at the Underwater Intervention Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. Located on stand 306, the company will present its portfolio of subsea innovations, including its pioneering high performance hollow glass microspheres, Eccospheres® and Eccofloat® syntactic foam buoyancy for remotely operated vehicles (ROV).

While at the show, delegates will get the opportunity to meet with Trelleborg experts, Robert Kelly and James Guenard to discuss the importance of choosing the correct buoyancy option for subsea vehicles, as well as its new manufacturing technique that produces finished modular geometry, optimizing processing costs and lead times.

Robert Kelly, General Manager of Trelleborg’s applied technologies operation in Boston commented: “Underwater Intervention is an important industry event and we look forward to discussing our newest developments in manufacturing techniques for syntactic foam buoyancy with conference attendees. Historically, show attendees have provided us with excellent input regarding current and future buoyancy requirements.

“The exhibition provides the ideal platform for Trelleborg to highlight its solutions and expertise on demanding subsea applications directly to the people who can benefit from them most. We look forward to listening to the needs of industry professionals first hand to gain insight into what they require now and in the future.”

Amongst its subsea offerings, Trelleborg’s applied technologies operation manufactures a range of high performance, low density syntactic foam solutions for deep sea buoyancy applications. These composite foams provide ultra-low densities through the selection of only the highest specification hollow glass microspheres called Eccospheres®. They are designed to provide the highest strength to weight ratio when used in composite materials.

When Eccospheres® are combined within a rigid, high strength resin system it makes Trelleborg’s Eccofloat® syntactic foam. These foams are used to prepare large buoyancy modules, which can be readily shaped to custom configurations for ROVs, AUVs and manned submersibles. Oceanographers also use Eccofloat® to suspend instrumentation in deep ocean studies. Trelleborg has developed a new method that produces finished modular geometry, to optimize processing costs and lead times.
