Technip awarded additional subsea contract for the Stones project development in the Gulf of Mexico

- Leveraging its subsea vertical integration - Technip was awarded by Shell Offshore Inc. (“Shell”) a contract for the development of subsea infrastructure for the Stones project. Included in the service are two subsea production tie-backs to the Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel. The Stones field is located in the Walker Ridge area in the US Gulf of Mexico, at a water depth of 2,930 meters along the pipelay route.

Aker Solutions to Provide Subsea Production System for Rotan Development in Malaysia

Technip awarded umbilical supply contract by ENI - Reinforcing its footprint in Angola -

Technip’s wholly-owned subsidiaries Technip Umbilicals Ltd.(1) and Angoflex Ltda. have been awarded a contract by ENI S.p.A. to supply umbilicals to the Block 15/06 East Hub Development offshore Angola. This field is located approximately 350 kilometers north of Luanda, at water depths of 450-600 meters. The contract covers project management and manufacture of about 15 kilometers of dynamic and static steel tube umbilicals

IMCA names new chief executive

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has appointed Allen Leatt as Chief Executive. He will be joining on 1 October 2015 from Subsea 7 where he has been Senior VP for Engineering and Project Management. Looking forward to joining IMCA with its thousand-plus member companies in over 60 countries at a challenging time for the industry, Allen said he is “delighted to be joining IMCA and determined to strengthen and build upon the organisation’s special position in the marine contracting industry”.

New Technical Director Appointed for IMCA

Richard Benzie has been appointed Technical Director of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) to replace Jane Bugler who retires at the end of this month (September 2015) after 18 years in the role. He will join IMCA in the near future. “More than any other individual past or present, Jane’s name is synonymous with the IMCA brand and the objectives of the association. Replacing Jane is therefore a big challenge, but one that I relish.” says Richard. “In these testing times for our industry I am delighted to be joining an organisation I know well, whose track record I respect, and which is firmly committed to the principle of helping its 1,000+ members in more than 60 countries add value rather than cost to their ongoing business around the globe.

Ceona’s chairman to stand down

IMCA publishes world-wide ROV stats for 2014 PUBLISHES WORLD-WIDE ROV STATS FOR 2014

The International Marine Contractors Association’s (IMCA) 2014 survey of remotely operated vehicle (ROV)s, and ROV personnel reveals that in February 2014 a total of 3,369 ROV personnel (superintendents, supervisors, pilot techs and other offshore ROV support personnel) were working, and in August the total figure was 3,617. The total number of ROVs in February was 677 and in August 726. These figures compare with 3,663 personnel in February 2013 and 3,962 in August 2013; and 580 ROVs in February 2013 and 636 in August 2013.

The 12-month contract will be serviced by Harkand’s two DSVs, the Harkand Da Vinci and Harkand Atlantis, supported by project management and engineering from Harkand’s Aberdeen office.

OMV Hires Shark SRL for Subsea Services

Romania’s SC Shark SRL has secured a diving/ROV services contract from OMV Petrom SA. The framework agreement, awarded earlier this year, requires the contractor to provide diving services, prospecting and operation of remotely operated vehicles, in order to explore the operating perimeters for the extraction of hydrocarbons in the Black Sea.
