Solstad Offshore Expands Vessel Fleet with ROVs

Shipowner Solstad Offshore expands its fleet offering by equipping six more of the company’s subsea construction vessels with remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). In connection with the investment in new ROVs, Solstad Offshore has entered into a cooperation agreement with Omega Subsea, who will manage, operate and provide personnel to operate the ROV systems on board the vessels.

FET to Supply Work-class ROV to UK Ministry of Defence

The subsea product line of Forum Energy Technologies has secured a contract from the UK Ministry of Defence Salvage and Marine Operations (SALMO) team to supply a work class remotely operated vehicle (ROV). The system has been acquired by SALMO following an Urgent Capability Requirement (UCR) from its customer, which was announced in May. The ROV will complement and increase the existing UK Defence salvage capabilities managed by SALMO and will be used to support salvage and wreck surveys.

The 33rd "Taiwan Excellence Award" has been announced, and the global leader in Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV), DWTEK, has distinguished itself among 948 entries. DWTEK received the award for their observation-class ROV, the I90. The Taiwan Excellence Award is often likened to the Oscars of the product industry and is established by the Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs, known for its strict selection process and emphasis on product innovation. This year, the Ministry of Economic Affairs invited over 140 domestic experts to conduct comprehensive evaluations based on four major professional categories: "Research and Development," "Design," "Quality," and "Marketing," while also considering the "Made in Taiwan" criteria. After a rigorous three-month evaluation process, they selected industry-defining products and bestowed upon them the Taiwan Excellence honor.

Scientists Discover Healthy Deep-Sea Coral Reefs and New Seamounts in the Galapagos

Scientists examining underwater cliff ecosystems onboard research vessel Falkor (too) using the 4,500 meter robot, ROV SuBastian, have discovered two pristine coral reefs in the waters surrounding the Galápagos Islands. These newly identified cold-water reefs are situated at depths ranging from 370 to 420 meters. The discovery expands our understanding of deep reefs within the Galápagos Islands Marine Reserve.

DeepTech Expands ROV Fleet

Deepwater services and intervention specialists, DeepTech, has expanded its fleet with three work class ROVs, bringing its total number to 26 vehicles. The Triton XLS ROVs, which operate at 150 horsepower and a depth rating of 3000 meters, add diversity and flexibility to allow DeepTech to continue to support its worldwide portfolio and expand its business further in the Eastern Mediterranean.
