Flash Tekk, an agent of subsea support service provider Ultra Deep Solutions (UDS), has secured a new contract today for one HD ROV from manufacturer FMC Technologies Schilling Robotics. The 4,000-meter rated HD system will be delivered and will mobilize in December 2015.

MTCS (Maritime training and Competence services) specialising in Subsea training was used to dispatching a trainer a week to Aberdeen to deliver High Voltage Safety Awareness, Assessor Skills or technical training to the various array of oil companies supplying the Oil and gas businesses in and on the outskirts of the city. Since the price of oil has dropped through the floor in the last 6 months they are finding they need to go further afield to secure business. The 5 hour car journey to the Granite City has been replaced by somewhat longer haul flights. This week trainers are in Trinidad, Hong Kong and Singapore delivering a range of safety and technical training.

Simon was previously Managing Director of Tritech International Ltd from 2008 having joined as Finance Director in 2007. Ocean Business Celebrates Most Successful Show Yet!

Last week’s Ocean Business show at the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) in Southampton was phenomenally successful, with visitor numbers up an incredible 29%, taking attendance to 4589 visitors. With all four previous shows brimming with visitors from all over the world, it’s hard to believe it could get any better, but the show delivered everything it promised for face-to-face interaction between exhibitors and customers.

Delta SubSea Success for Enterprise Products Partners

Enterprise Products Partners L.P. jointly owns crude oil gathering pipelines serving the Lucius production area in southern Keathley Canyon in the Gulf of Mexico. They required support on their Seacor Diamond and Seacon Fearless vessels, and chose Delta SubSea (DSS) to provide ROV contract support for both vessels. The scope of work for the projects included pigging operation support, installation of GammaTrac units for pig monitoring, and subsea pig launcher installation, and other subsea support work for other vessel operations. DSS utilized the most efficient ROVs on the market, the 150-hp HD ROV, manufactured by FMC Technologies Schilling Robotics.

A powerful magnet has been developed by Miko Marine AS, of Norway, as a practical and versatile tool for ROV operators. Incorporating patented technology that increases its performance, the magnet has been designed so that it can be switched-on and off by an ROV manipulator and used for a wide range of applications underwater. The new magnet can be applied instantly to any steel structure where it is capable of holding weights up to 750 kg and it can significantly reduce the amount of time required for an ROV to undertake a task.
