In October of 2023, Phoenix was contacted by the Ocean Cables and Unmanned Systems Division of the Naval Facilities Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (EXWC) to develop an innovative approach to repair the Kaneohe Wave Energy Test Site (WETS) 60M Berth Electro-Opto-Mechanical Cable. Due to the dynamic shoreline environment, the cable had sustained damage along the shore landing riprap. This time-sensitive repair was critical to support Wave Energy Converter (WEC) deployment schedules and other site initiatives.

Coast Guard Integrates Aerial and Underwater Drones to Locate Victims of Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse

After the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed on March 26, Carl Shipley, who manages the Coast Guard’s Remotely Operated Vehicle and Underwater Port Security (ROV & UPSEC) program, was called to Baltimore Harbor to help look for victims. Using the service’s SRS Fusion ROV, he and his team were able to identify the remains of two vehicles within the structure of the bridge and provide their GPS coordinates to dive teams before the day was over.

Rovco Awarded Contract for Green Volt, Set to be One of World’s Largest Floating Offshore Wind Farms

Rovco has been awarded the site characterisation operations for Green Volt floating offshore wind farm, located 80 km east of Peterhead in Scotland. Scheduled to be fully operational in 2029, Green Volt will become one of the world’s largest offshore floating windfarms. It will consist of up to 35 floating turbines and is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 1 million tons per year, contributing up to 1.5 TWh of clean energy to the UK annually.
