Subsea 7 saves time with Sonardyne 6G and SPRINT in the Gulf of Mexico

Subsea engineering, construction and installation company, Subsea 7, has successfully used acoustic and inertial navigation technologies from Sonardyne International Ltd. during a project to install flowlines, risers and subsea structures at a major new deep water field development in the Gulf of Mexico, due to commence production in 2016.

A global oil and gas skills and training body today called on the industry not to cut corners on safety training and competence in the face of a much lower oil price. The call was issued as OPITO announced the final speaker line-up and content for its sixth annual conference and exhibition on safety and competence to be held in Abu Dhabi on the 3rd of November and sponsored by Shell.

Blue Stream Pipeline Inspection contract awarded to Fugro

Fugro has been awarded a contract by Blue Stream Pipeline Company B.V. for the provision of survey support vessels and associated survey services to perform the 2015 external pipeline inspection for the offshore, shore approach, and dry section components of the Blue Stream Pipeline System.

Ocean Installer signed regional framework agreement with BP

Ocean Installer has been awarded a Regional Framework Agreement with BP for subsea work in the Gulf of Mexico region. The agreement covers subsea fabrication, transportation and installation of offshore facilities, as well as hook up and commissioning, and is valid for three years. Specific work scopes will be carried out under individual call-off contracts, and accordingly no firm work is currently committed under the agreement.

Wood Group announces the appointment of Robin Watson as chief executive officer (CEO), effective 1 January 2016. Robin succeeds Bob Keiller who has decided to retire from Wood Group on 31 December 2015. Robin has served on the Board since 2013, initially as CEO of Wood Group PSN and, since April 2015, as Group chief operating officer. His appointment represents a natural evolution in the Group’s leadership.

National Oceanography Centre: A Year of Discovery – unlocking the secrets of the shelf seas

The Royal Research Ship Discovery has completed her first year of research. Over a series of nine research expeditions, scientists studied the seasonal events taking place in UK shelf waters throughout the year. The vessel, procured by the Natural Environment Research Council for UK science is the latest in marine technology.

Fugro Scout completes maiden project in the Middle East

Fugro Scout, the new 83-metre geotechnical drilling vessel, has completed its maiden project in the Middle East. Since its maiden project in the Persian Gulf it has been successfully deployed in the Arabian Sea and the Red Sea, completing several geotechnical and geophysical survey scopes for various clients. The vessel is currently in transit to The Netherlands to execute a geotechnical survey for an offshore windfarm in the Dutch sector of the North Sea.
