HARKAND has signed a new joint venture agreement with ESOPEG Lda in Angola, its first strategic partnership in the country and third in the region as the global inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) company continues to strengthen its capabilities across West Africa.

Novacavi is pleased to announce its engagement in a pilot project for ENI (Ente Nazionale Idrocarburi – National Oil Board) platforms subsidence monitoring in Adriatic Sea. Novacavi has been called in to provide a specially designed custom pressure resistant cable for a new submarine hydraulic digital profile meter to be laid on the seabed close to a gas extracting platform. Installation of this monitoring system may reach a depth of 100m in order to survey and to take permanent readings of the subsidence cone caused by gas extraction.

Nexans Norway and IKM Subsea have come to an agreement to extend the current ROV services contracts on board the C/S Nexans Skagerrak. The contract value including options is 75 million NOK and duration term is firm for 3 years + 2 yearly options. IKM Subsea’s ROV services will be integrated with iSurvey’s positioning and monitoring service during cable lay and trenching operations.

Wood Group has secured a contract with Woodside to provide the detailed design of the Greater Western Flank Phase 2 (GWF-2) flowline system. The GWF-2 Project is located on the North West Shelf, offshore Western Australia.

Scottish research and development company PhotoSynergy Ltd (PSL) is enjoying a hat trick of successes as a major operator and two subsea service companies push the envelope to further the safety of their diving personnel and increase efficiencies in the subsea sector. The North Sea Operator has, for the first time, included PSL’s LIGHTPATH technology in its diving operations and management guidance document, which aims to ensure compliance with latest legislation and industry best practice.

Commercial summer shipping across the North Pole may be possible by the end of the century, with the first potential crossings feasible for ice-strengthened ships around 2040. C-Kore’s subsea monitoring technology provides quick and reliable information on the electrical condition of subsea assets, eliminating the use of down-lines or the requirement to bring the equipment topside to test.

Aker Solutions and Total agreed to collaborate on research and innovation to develop new cost-effective subsea field technology. The initial four-year technical collaboration agreement will build on earlier cooperation and bring both companies closer in developing technologies that will reduce costs and increase value at subsea oil and gas fields. The partnership will this year explore a wide range of issues, including further evolution of subsea processing and compression systems to boost cost-efficiency of deepwater gas production, development of electric subsea controls and optimization of flow-measurement technologies. Further scope of the collaboration will be defined over the next months.

Umbilicals Facility to Serve EMEA market Surface to seabed specialist, Seanamic Group, is expanding its global umbilical business with a new Umbilical International facility in Glasgow. Initially it will offer umbilical repair and refurbishment for operators and contractors, in the lead up to full umbilical and cable manufacture.

HARKAND has completed an inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) campaign for BP Trinidad and Tobago (BPTT) utilising the Harkand Da Vinci diving support vessel (DSV) and the company's new hyperbaric rescue facility (HRF) in the Caribbean.

Aker Solutions will deliver a concept study on a new processing platform for future phases of the Statoil-operated Johan Sverdrup North Sea field, Norway's largest oil find in three decades. The study includes design solutions for a tie-in of the platform and future satellites to the field center that is being developed in the project's first phase. The work will be carried out by Aker Solutions in Oslo and Stavanger and will be delivered in the summer.
