With still over five months until it opens, Oceanology International 2016 (OI) being held at ExCeL London, Tuesday 15 – Thursday 17 March 2016, is well set to be a record-breaker. It has already matched the size of OI 2014 and, with hundreds of additional metres on reserve and due to be confirmed soon, the 2016 event will be the biggest OI of all time!

National Oceanography Centre: A Year of Discovery – unlocking the secrets of the shelf seas

The Royal Research Ship Discovery has completed her first year of research. Over a series of nine research expeditions, scientists studied the seasonal events taking place in UK shelf waters throughout the year. The vessel, procured by the Natural Environment Research Council for UK science is the latest in marine technology.

Fugro Scout completes maiden project in the Middle East

Fugro Scout, the new 83-metre geotechnical drilling vessel, has completed its maiden project in the Middle East. Since its maiden project in the Persian Gulf it has been successfully deployed in the Arabian Sea and the Red Sea, completing several geotechnical and geophysical survey scopes for various clients. The vessel is currently in transit to The Netherlands to execute a geotechnical survey for an offshore windfarm in the Dutch sector of the North Sea.

Technip awarded additional subsea contract for the Stones project development in the Gulf of Mexico

- Leveraging its subsea vertical integration - Technip was awarded by Shell Offshore Inc. (“Shell”) a contract for the development of subsea infrastructure for the Stones project. Included in the service are two subsea production tie-backs to the Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel. The Stones field is located in the Walker Ridge area in the US Gulf of Mexico, at a water depth of 2,930 meters along the pipelay route.

Technip’s wholly-owned subsidiaries Technip Umbilicals Ltd.(1) and Angoflex Ltda. have been awarded a contract by ENI S.p.A. to supply umbilicals to the Block 15/06 East Hub Development offshore Angola. This field is located approximately 350 kilometers north of Luanda, at water depths of 450-600 meters. The contract covers project management and manufacture of about 15 kilometers of dynamic and static steel tube umbilicals

Delivery Brought Forward For The QTrencher 1000

The relationship between SMD and KT Submarine began in 1998, with the supply of a standard cable plough, followed by the supply of a latest generation MD3XT 500kW, jetting assisted telecoms cable plough in 2012.

Following the acquisition of SMD by CSR Times Electric (now CRRC TEG) earlier this year, the parent company of CRRC TEG, China CSR Corporation Limited (CSR), completed a merger with China CNR Corporation, to create China CRRC Corporation Limited (CRRC). The merger of these two companies has significant and positive implications for the development of SMD; not least the support from such a strong financial capability.

Oil and Gas Producers at U.I. 2016

The International Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP) have agreed to hold their February 2016 New Orleans meeting at U.I. 2016. In essence, upwards of 20 representatives from the O&G will be attending their meeting and the different presentations and exhibitions at the show. Some of the operators that will be in attendance are TOTAL, Shell, ENI, Petronas, Petrobras, Exxon Mobil, Statoil, Chevron, Conoco Phillips, DONG Energy, Qatar Petroleum, and Premier Oil, BP, as well as other IOGP invited operators in the Gulf region.
