Subsea Specialists Set to Expand Following Business Gateway Support

A North East subsea specialist company, that provides electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic services, and promotes a circular economy, is preparing to expand its operations, following support and advice from Business Gateway. Legasea is set to expand into international markets over the next 12 months and is anticipating the growth of its team into 2021, with the addition of up to ten new roles. This follows the successful delivery of a variety of projects for exploration and production operators and oil and gas service companies, which were successfully completed prior to the pandemic.

Engineering deploys C-Kore units again in Nigeria

C-Kore systems completed a successful campaign offshore Nigeria with VAYCO Oil tools and local Nigerian partner Cranium Engineering. The operation for a major oil operator in over 1,000m water depth allowed rapid testing of umbilicals and electrical flying leads (EFLs) for regulatory compliance and immediate rectification of subsea faults, saving significant man hours and vessel time. Being automated, the C-Kore units also reduce the number of personnel needed offshore.

Subsea 7 Contract Offshore Netherlands Confirmed

Subsea 7 today confirmed the award of a substantial(1) contract by Vattenfall for the Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) 1-4 offshore wind farm project. As previously announced on 23 April 2020, the contract was subject to the client’s final investment decision, which has now occurred. The contract will be recorded in backlog in the second quarter.

UUV Operators Collect New, Clear Images from 76-year-old Shipwreck with the Bluefin-12 at Sea Trials for the Royal Australian

Spotted by Bluefin-12: Shipwreck from 1944 May 11th marked the 76th anniversary of the tragic sinking of the USS YF-415 in the Boston Harbor. The ship was conducting a routine obsolete ammunition dump when signal flares caught fire and ignited shells, leading to a series of explosions that sank the ship. In November 2019, a General Dynamics Mission Systems Bluefin-12 Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) captured detailed images of the USS YF-415.
