TerraSond Ltd, a product and service line brand in Acteon’s geo-services segment, plans to invest in a new base in Massachusetts as part of its commitment to support the Vineyard Wind 1 project and wider US offshore wind developments. The company, which already has facilities in Alaska and Texas, has been confirmed as a preferred supplier for the subsea balance of plant inspection and survey services for the Vineyard Wind 1 wind farm, a joint venture between Avangrid Renewables and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners. The wind farm will be situated 15 miles south of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, and 35 miles from mainland Massachusetts. It will be the first major commercial-scale offshore wind farm in US waters.

SEA-KIT International is expanding its Tollesbury production facility to deliver on a growing Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV) orderbook. The news comes as Fugro, world-leading geo-intelligence specialist, snaps up SEA-KIT’s latest 12m X-class build for its growing Blue Essence fleet.

Last month in a tragic workplace accident in Nunavut, Canada, a bulldozer broke through the ice and was submerged to a depth of 160 meters. A highly skilled team of Canadian Police underwater investigators responded with SEAMOR Marine’s Chinook ROV, recovering the victim’s body from inside the bulldozer on the Arctic Ocean floor. It was the Canadian Police’s deepest underwater recovery in history and first operational dive above the Arctic Circle.

Organised by the Global Underwater Hub, the Subsea Expo Awards recognise the companies and individuals who are leading the way in the global underwater sector.

Subsea 7 and technology partner FLASC B.V., are pleased to be awarded a grant from the UK government Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) for £471,760, to further develop an innovative offshore energy storage system. Funding has been awarded as part of the Longer Duration Energy Storage (LODES) Competition. Subsea Expo 2022 has been hailed a major success after more than 4,000 visitors attended and exhibitors reported doing “real” business with strong interest in their products and services. The patent's claims focus predominantly on leak detection and identifying changes to surfaces and volumes on and around underwater assets via the company's patented active optical measurement device.

STR’s investment notably includes the acquisition of iXblue’s long baseline (LBL) system; Canopus, making them the first rental company to offer the system for hire. The three ocean technology companies Nortek AS (Norway), Strategic Robotic Systems (USA), and Blueprint Lab (Australia) have merged to form a common holding company, General Oceans AS. Together, the three companies have almost 200 employees and operate across all major segments of the ocean technology market. Revenues in 2022 are expected to reach $63 million with focus on vehicles, actuators, and sensors.

Havfram announced today that it has been awarded a contract for SURF support work in Egypt for Saipem. The contract will see Havfram deploy a Laying and Construction Vessel (LCV) offshore Egypt to the Zohr field in 2022.
